Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday informed that the process of identification of the new landfills stations for Shillong and Jowai town are mostly completed.
“In the last week we had a meeting, so the process of identifying is almost completed. But, I will not tell you now but soon”, said Sniawbhalang.
After the identified lands were not feasible, the state government has floated fresh advertisement for acquiring land for the setting up of a permanent landfill for Jowai town.
On March 16, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar informed that the department had floated advertisement and interested land owners have submitted their applications.
It may be mentioned here that Jowai town was badly hit due to absence of a permanent landfill for many months last year.
