Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills, has said that police are still awaiting the post-mortem report in connection with the death of 30-year-old Throphinos Khongmawloh of Pynter village under Pynursla.
The body of the deceased was exhumed for post-mortem examination after his father, Netnobiweit Khongsdoh, lodged an FIR alleging that his son was assaulted to death.
The case gained widespread attention after a 59-minute video surfaced on social media allegedly showing the village headman of Pynter along with members of the Village Defence Party (VDP) assaulting the victim inside the village Dorbar Hall on April 7, 2026.
Police said investigation into the matter is continuing.
