Shillong: Following the rapid spread of news about the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl from Umpling on Sunday evening, local residents launched a massive search for the missing girl.
Police have also accelerated their investigation to trace her whereabouts.
After gathering details from people and friends who may know the missing girl, police reached Mawlai Nongmali to question another girl.
According to information received, the police interrogation in Mawlai took place after they learned that the girl from Nongmali knows a boy who is said to be a friend of the missing girl.
Both the police and local residents continue an intense search operation, especially in light of the recent tragic incidents involving children in East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi, which have caused widespread concern.
According to the missing girl’s father, she stepped outside to fetch water from the Syntex tank but never returned home.
A wristwatch she was wearing was later found on the roadside.
