Aizawl: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Sairang Railway Station near Aizawl, formally bringing Mizoram onto the Indian Railways map and connecting the state to the national rail network. With this, Mizoram now joins all other Indian states already linked by rail.
The event marks a major milestone for the Northeast, improving connectivity and integration with the rest of the country. However, Modi could not flag off the three special trains scheduled for launch—the Sairang–Guwahati Daily Express, the Sairang–Kolkata Express, and the Sairang–Delhi Rajdhani Express—due to heavy rainfall. The inauguration was completed despite the weather disruptions.
