Shillong, August 18: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong said that before charging anything at the Government, a proper research should be done first lest it leads to an embarrassment for the person making the allegations. This statement of the State Government Minister comes after the allegation of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) that there has been a misuse of the Rs.1005 crores meant for the Shillong Smart City Limited.
Prestone Tynsong said that the allegation of the AITC which was published in one English daily is incorrect with the intent to tarnish the image of the State Government, and has been alleged without proper research.
He informed that the funds received by the State Government for the Smart City is Rs.251 crores and from this the allocation from the State is Rs.55 crores, while Rs. 196 crores is the share to be borne by the Central Government.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the allegation that the State Government has received up to Rs. 1005 crores is incorrect. He further stated that the accounts of the fund not being presented yet by the Government is true, because the accounts have to be prepared as per the regulations of the Registrar of the Corporative Societies, and as per these regulations, the accounts should be given only after it has been prepared and then approved by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
