SHILLONG, February 22: The National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) who is also the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that in the past 4 years the Government has faced many hurdles while also adding that in the first 6 months of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government, people were uncertain that the Government would last for even a year, yet with blessings and faith, without paying heed to the criticism against the Government, it has move ahead to its present strength now.
He said that the Government has faced many hurdles but the hurdles has only proven the strength of the Government, and in the past 4 years the present Government took decisions and steps which previous Governments had not dared to touch be it the resolution of the border issue or any other issues. He said that the Government has tried to tackle issues as best it can for if it does not, people would soon start to lose their trust. Sangma also said that this Government will ensure to fulfill all the issues it has undertaken.
The NPP today welcomed former MLAs and MDCs with the incumbent MDC from Umsning joining the party to prepare for the upcoming Assembly Election in 2023. Sangma on this day warmly welcomed all the leaders who joined the party.
The National President of the NPP also said that this Government is there to listen to everyone, and as leaders it is required to listen to all and also come out to the forefront if needed, and he added that as part of the Government, he has tried to cooperate with parties in the Opposition for the benefit of the people. He said that the MDA Government has tried to extend development schemes to all corners of the State, and it is because of this that leaders have come forward and joined the party, and if the public sees it fit to hand the leash of rule to the party again, the NPP will fulfill the aim it has set to make Meghalaya as one the top 10 states in the country.
