Oscar M Memorial Higher Secondary School celebrated its Silver Jubilee in Shillong, marking 25 years of educational excellence and service to the community.
The event was attended by Charles Pyngrope, MLA of 21-Nongthymmai Constituency, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he praised the institution for its contribution to education and announced a grant-in-aid to support the school’s infrastructure development.
Dr H Tyngsong, Scientist E at MOECF, Government of India, attended the programme as Guest of Honour alongside several dignitaries.
Established in 2001, the co-educational institution has spent the last 25 years providing quality English-medium education to students in the region.
The celebration featured colourful cultural performances, music and dance presentations by students, while outstanding students were also honoured for their academic and overall achievements.
The school was established in memory of late Oscar M Wahlang, a renowned Khasi poet, writer, educator and social visionary. The institution also paid tribute to his immense contribution to Khasi literature and society.
Alumni, parents, teachers and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the milestone occasion.
