The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has called for a thorough investigation and strict legal action against those responsible for the tragic death of a young man on his way to the Cherry Blossom Festival.
Expressing grief, NPYF President Kitborlang Nongrem urged the government to ensure justice in the case, which involved a collision reportedly caused by an escort vehicle accompanying a VIP convoy. He stressed that no one is above the law and demanded an impartial probe to hold the culprits accountable.
“We demand an inquiry and immediate action against those involved, irrespective of their position,” Nongrem stated, adding that the incident highlights the need for equality before the law. He also extended condolences to the bereaved family of the victim, Hudderfield Rymbui, a 30-year-old who lost his life on November 15 in the Shillong Bypass road accident.
The tragic collision, reportedly involving a VIP escort vehicle, has sparked outrage, with many calling for accountability and better road safety measures during high-profile events like the Cherry Blossom Festival.
