Meghalaya Seeks Clarification on Centre’s Notification Removing Public Hearings for Mineral Extraction, Reaffirms Opposition to Uranium Mining

Meghalaya Government has sought clarification from the Central Government on its recent notification wherein public hearings will no longer be required for extraction of mineral including uranium

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the office memorandum of the Centre is under legal scrutiny while making it clear that the State is not in favour of uranium mining in the state.
