SHILLONG, February 03: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya and also Minister incharge of PWD(Roads), Prestone Tynsong said that Meghalaya is one amongst the states which has most satisfactorily implemented the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) in comparison to the other NE states.
He informed that in Phase I and II, the Government has set a goal to complete the road construction by upto 1300 Kms and till now, about 1000 Kms of the construction has been completed. He also informed that the Union Minister incharge of Rural Development, Giriraj Singh has lauded the satisfactory implementation of the PMGSY scheme by the Meghalaya Government.
Tynsong stated that at present,the Government has begun the process to start Phase III of the PMGSY scheme in the state, while expressing hope that it can be implemented as soon as the New Financial Year starts. He stated that the goal for Phase III will also be 1250 Kms in length of the PMGSY scheme roads across the state. Further, he also said that higher ranked engineers in the department have been instructed to work hard in order to complete the task at the earliest.
