Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has asserted that the government is fully committed to relocating the Harijan residents from Them Iew Mawlong, but the process requires careful planning and legal scrutiny.
Speaking to the media today, Dhar emphasized that the delay is not intentional but necessary to ensure a legally sound and foolproof relocation process. He stated that the government must move cautiously to avoid legal complications and ensure a sustainable solution.
“We cannot just throw people out like stones or animals. That is why the government is carefully studying all aspects before proceeding with the relocation,” he said.
On the Meghalaya-Assam border issue, Dhar mentioned that progress is steady, with the Regional Committees preparing necessary reports, which will be submitted to the government for further action.
