MEGHALAYA GOVERNMENT MADE KNOWN THE HINDRANCES FACED IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE JJM SCHEME IN UMMAT VILLAGE TO HIMANTA

Shillong: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong has clearly made known to the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the hindrances caused and interferences in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme by people from Assam in the village of Ummat, Ri- Bhoi District.

As a reminder, on the 6th of January, there had been a hindrance or an interference on the implementation of the scheme, in which it has been alleged that the representative of Chingthong Baithanglangso constituency, went to

this village and started to command or interfere with the manner of the scheme’s implementation in this village which led to the scheme being stopped entirely for now in the village.

With regards to this, Tynsong who had gone to accompany Conrad K.Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya at the meeting of the Border Resolution Talks with the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, got a chance to speak about this matter.

Speaking with media persons after the meeting concluded, Tynsong said that Himanta Biswa Sarma from his end has directed the District Administration as well as the Superintendent of Police that they must necessarily see to it that such

incidents and obstruct of work do not happen again especially relating to developmental works in parts of the villages in the interstate border.

Apart from this, Tynsong also stated that Himanta has also directed that if such incidents do take place in the future, a meeting should promptly be called so that differences of opinion amongst the citizens of the two states can be removed.
