SHILLONG, January 19: The Cabinet Ministers of Meghalaya on the 19th of January approved the increase of the upper age limit for applicants in government jobs to 37 years, but the approval for the same will not apply to a few departments which require good physical efficiency in the jobs.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma speaking with media persons after the meeting concluded said that the Government has approved the increase in the upper age limit for applicants in government jobs except for jobs which require applicants to have a good physical efficiency or jobs which require the personnels to wear a uniform such as the police force, forest guard,home guard and civil defence, which remains the same as before.
He said that the increase in the upper age limit for applicants in government jobs has been increased from 27 years to 32 years for the General category and for the Scheduled Tribe category, it has been increased further from 32 years to 37 years.
