The forefront leaders of the All Meghalaya Asha Workers Union (MAWU) today came forward to express their feelings on the response of the Minister of the Health Department, James Sangma to the questions raised by Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem about the payment received by ASHA workers,to which the Health Department Minister responded that the wages of ASHA workers is assuredly ₹4000 per month along with other payments from the scheme of the National Health Mission and other incentives received while working in their villages and localities.
With regards to this, the leaders of MAWU which includes the President, Mirajune Myrrsing and Adviser, Sony Kharjana while speaking with media persons expressed that if the Government does truly pay the assured amount of ₹4000 as stated by the Minister then they would be extremely happy and he should soon implement the payment of ₹4000 every month because till now, the ASHA workers are paid only ₹2000 per month.
With regard to other schemes from the Central Government as elaborated by the Health Minister, the ASHA workers expressed that they do not at all understand the Minister’s elaboration for till now, the schemes and their payments do not correspond and they do not understand it as is elaborated by the Minister.
