Shillong: The Minister incharge of Tourism, Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday informed that the stretch from Khyndailad to Umsohsun will soon be a no hawkers zone as one way to decongest the Shillong city.
The Minister on speaking to reporters said that the idea is to first minimise then the government will evict the hawkers from the area.
He informed said that the government are look into the matter of the Hawkers and the government will soon identify area to setup a Hawker market.
“To look into the matter of hawkers, we will have to work in tandem with the Urban Affairs department, Municipal Board, PWD (Roads); all these are line departments we have to take on board on the issue of relocating hawkers,” Lyngdoh said.
