Shillong: BJP MLA AL Hek has expressed his disagreement with former Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh’s recent criticism of the late Purno A. Sangma.
Biren Singh had recently taken to social media to criticise Purno Sangma’s past statement advocating for separate states for different indigenous communities in the Northeast.
When asked about this, Hek questioned what was wrong with demanding separate states for Khasi-Jaintia or Garo communities. He stated that there is nothing inappropriate in anyone advocating for statehood.
However, he also clarified that he does not believe the ongoing exchange between Biren Singh and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will affect the relationship between the BJP and NPP.
