SHILLONG, February 17: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that an Inquiry Committee cannot be constituted randomly whenever any allegation is made, but requires some proof as constituting an Inquiry Committee also incurs a lot of expenses and is time consuming.
Sangma stated that this does not mean the Government is avoiding an investigation, but if an inquiry committee has to be constituted, proof and detailed information are also required. He said that if such hard proof and information is truly available, the Government is ready to pass an order for the inquiry.
It may be pointed that Dr.Mukul Sangma, the leader of the Opposition has again alleged that illegal mining and trade of coal is going on in the State of which he has hard proof and evidences in the form of videos taken.
On being asked about this, Sangma said that the ongoing operations of coal is in keeping with all the regulations and if there is any form of illegal operations or others, the same should be notified and a petition be sent.
