SHILLONG, April 05: The Minister of the Municipal Administration Department, Sniawbhalang Dhar said that the Department has tried the best it can to remove the problems with regard to procuring a land for the management of solid waste from Jowai city, and he has urged the residents of the city to have some patience with the Government.
Speaking with media persons today, he said that 3-4 sites have been identified but the local public of those sites have expressed their opposition while also informing that the Department is preparing a temporary site for the management of solid waste.
He said that the Officers of the Department are working hard to alleviate the problems due to the piled up garbage in Jowai but there has been an opposition from the local residents even after the Officers tried their best to make the public understand that they will not be affected.
Dhar from his end has urged the public to cooperate with the Government in order to remove the problem once and for all while assuring also that the site to be used for the management of solid waste will not affect the public as it will be operated as per modern scientific methods.
