SHILLONG,April 04: Prestone Tynsong who is the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya said that the problem faced by the Government in clearing the garbage from Jowai is due to the inability in getting a site as land ownership in the State is slightly peculiar, and the Government when it intends to start any project must get the consent of landowners, the Dorbar Shnongs and so on and so forth.
He urged all stakeholders to take collective responsibility in order to alleviate this problem. On the other hand, Prestone Tynsong said that he has spoken with the Urban Affairs Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar who will be visiting Jowai tomorrow, the 5th of April to make arrangements for the speedy process of this task.
He said that the Government is ready to even pay for the plot of land, but still then it has not gotten a site for the purpose yet. He further stated that the site is important for the disposal and recycling of waste and urged the public to not be hesitant for the betterment of everyone.
