HEADLINES

SHILLONG, March 31: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong has slammed the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MLA, Zenith Sangma by stating that he should not play politics in connection with the resolution of the border dispute with Assam.

Zenith Sangma who is an MLA of the Opposition visited Maikhuli village in Ri-Bhoi District in which he alleged that the Government did not listen or communicate with the public prior to signing the agreement with Assam as the people of this area do not at all want to be under Assam and also opposed the loss of their land in this border resolution.

Speaking on this matter today, Prestone Tynsong who is also the Chairman of the Regional Committee from Ri-Bhoi said that the allegation made by the MLA of the Opposition is incorrect for the Committee from its end had consulted with local Chiefs and also Headmen of the area and also received documents from the local village administrators.

He said that Zenith Sangma knows nothing about this matter and it is not good to play politics on this matter because it looks ugly. He further said that no one had the guts to touch these issues except for the MDA Government which took upon itself the task to be free from disputes and misunderstandings.
