APUF URGES MTC JOWAI TO CUT DOWN TREES WHICH ARE ABOUT TO COLLAPSE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY

Jowai: The All Hynniewtrep People United Front(AHPUF) today submitted an appeal at the Office of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation, Jowai Depot to urge this office to cut down the pine trees which are on the plots of land belonging to the Office which are on the side of the highway near the DTO Jowai, Mihmyntdu Moowamon.

The leaders of the organisation including the President, John Phawa, and General Secretary, Chandame Sungoh said that these pine trees which have grown or are really old situated on the side of NH-6 may endanger the commuting public at any time especially school children as well as motor vehicles passing through this road, therefore in order to avoid any untoward incident, the organisation appealed the department to remove or cut down these pine trees for as it is present the wide branches of these pine trees have spread to this road which is in parts of the area.

Furthermore, Sungoh said that the organisation also wants to urge other department offices or private establishments which have trees that are on the verge of collapsing and are situated close to the commuting areas of the public or in any place that can pose a danger to the people, to cut down those trees while there is still time to avoid any unfortunate incident.
