Shillong: The Executive Committee of the Local Taxi Drivers Association under the banner of the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association have come forward to express that they have taken the step to dissolve the banner of the association by deciding to resign and no longer taking up any charge in the association.
This was informed by the Adviser and also Secretary of the Association, Disparsing Rani and Wandonbok Jyrwa while speaking with media persons on Thursday.
The present team has held office from 2011 and the decision was taken after a meeting of the Executive Committee was held.
Wandonbok Jyrwa on the other hand, has held his office from 2008-2009 till yesterday by allowing other wise people who may want to hold office or tighten the association once again.
The reason which led the present office bearers of the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association to resign from their offices is due to them being unhappy over the emergence of too many commercial vehicles or taxi and cab associations claiming to be the parent association while the office bearers such as Disparsing Rani and Wandonbok Jyrwa feel the necessity to have only one association, however, they instead received information that a few associations have come forward with the intention to form instead an association of the All Meghalaya Union.
