Shillong, August 18: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong informed that the limestone export from Meghalaya can be started again, and today the 18th of August the High Court of Meghalaya has informed that the prohibition on the export of limestone from Meghalaya has been lifted.
He said that the High Court had passed an order prohibiting the export of limestone categorised under minor minerals from the 23rd of June, 2022, but only export minerals categorised under major minerals was permitted.
Prestone Tynsong said that with regard to this order of the High Court, the Government pursued the matter with the Ministry of Mines and Coal, and also the Ministry of Commerce of the Central Government. He informed that from the Ministry of Commerce a clarification was received stating that limestone can be exported from the State.
He said that after this clarification was received, the Government through the Advocate General presented an affidavit before the Meghalaya High Court based on which it was informed that the prohibition on the export of limestone has been cancelled.
