SHILLONG, February 12: The leader of the Opposition, Dr.Mukul Sangma said that the demand to revamp the reservation policy has arisen because the Government has failed to provide avenues for the youths.
He said that if the youths have plenty avenues, they would not have depended on the reservation policy but as it is at present the main reason for this is the failure of the Government in providing avenues for the youths. He futher stated that the public have to now depend and rely on the reservation policy, and there is a supposition that if the reservation policy is revamped then there would be more chances for the groups that have been specially identified.
Dr.Mukul Sangma said that if the Government had truly created avenues for the youths then no one would have remembered to raise the demand to revamp the reservation policy but because they have no other avenue, they have no option but to seek the support from many people and in such situations there are also many people who take advantage, and allegations of employment through unfair means also crops up which leads to corruption and further angers the youths.
