The Confederation of Ri-Bhoi People today demanded the State Government to release the funds of the MGNREGA scheme to every village in Ri-Bhoi District as most of the villages have to stop their work due to the lack of funds.
Bandari Ryntathiang, President of CoRP, Ri-Bhoi District expressed that the organisation is filled with concern over the pleas of the many local village adminstrators as the unreleased funds for the works carried out under the MGNREGA scheme, meant to buy materials, pay wages of labourers and others have caused the villages to go through many difficulties in the smooth flow of developmental works in the villages.
Furthermore, he said that the delay on the Government’s part in releasing the funds to the villages has led to many villages in Ri-Bhoi area to discontinue their work and most of the labourers have lost out on work.
Therefore, the organisation demands the Government to promptly release the funds and if the State Government continues to delay, the organisation will send a petition to the Central Government for the release of the funds to the villages so that the work can function in a smooth manner in the villages which will bring about benefits for the public.
