SHILLONG, March 12: The National Vice President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Prestone Tynsong said that the talk for NPP’s alliance with the BJP to form a Government in Manipur is continuing, and the NPP under the leadership of its President, Conrad K.Sangma will talk about this matter with the senior officials of the BJP in Delhi after the Budget Session of the State is over.
It may be pointed that in the recently concluded election, the NPP won 7 seats while the BJP won up to 32 seats from 60 constituencies in Manipur and the BJP has decided to ditch the NPP in the formation of the new Government, even though it had been in alliance with the BJP in the preceding term in the state.
Responding to a query on the recent development in Manipur, Tynsong said that the NPP expected to have more than 10 victorious candidates in the Manipur election, but however they got only 7 MLAs, but nonetheless the party is gaining strength in Manipur for in the 15 constituencies which the NPP fielded candidates, most lost by only about 300 votes.
On being queried further, he said that the President of the party will talk and discuss again in Delhi for the NPP’s inclusion in the BJP Government in Manipur.
