Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday announced financial support for the Higher Secondary education of 41 students from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
The announcement was made during a felicitation programme held to honour the 41 students who successfully passed the MBOSE SSLC Examination 2026.
The students are from various Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills. The felicitation ceremony was organised by the State Social Welfare Department.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that just a day after students who secured positions in the Top 20 merit list were felicitated, it was equally heartening to celebrate these students who had also achieved their goals through hard work and determination.
He praised the students from the child care institutions, stating that their achievement was particularly commendable given the difficult circumstances they come from. He said the students had shown great courage and resilience in overcoming the challenges they faced to reach their goal.
The programme was also attended by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, along with other officials and dignitaries.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister also visited Mawïongrim, Shillong, where he inaugurated the Nabon Memorial Home of the Jingïaseng Kynthei Shillong Rilum Presbytery.
