SHILLONG, February 08: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that the joining of the 5 Congress MLAs with the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government will not affect the relationship with other parties already in the Government.
He said that a mutual agreement had already been reached with the parties in the Government’s coalition to continue and to treat all the coalition partners who have been in the Government from the start with impartiality and respect.
Sangma, who is also the National President of the NPP said that he accepts the proposal of the 5 Congress MLAs and informed that the 5 Congress MLAs have submitted a letter of unconditional support to the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance Government to work cooperatively and to further strengthen any decision taken for the benefit of the public.
On being asked about the presence of the BJP and the Congress in the Government which has never happened before, Sangma said that in politics, friends and enemies are never constant and all parties work for the benefit of the people.
He said based on the objective presented by the Congress to work cooperatively with the Government for the benefit of the people, the Government in agreement to it is ready to work unitedly with them.Sangma further stated that the difference is only in the party banner while in the Government they will all work together for the people.
