CONGRESS MLAs EXTENDED SUPPORT TO THE MDA AS GREAT RESULTS WERE SEEN FROM COOPERATION WITH REGIONAL PARTIES

Shillong: The President of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), K.P Pangniang said that the reason which led the 5 Congress MLAs to come forward and join hands with the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government, is probably because they have found and seen that the cooperation of the regional parties in the present Government, is truly to build the State, to bring in growth and development and to tackle many pending issues which the former Governments in the past could never achieve, such as the process to hold talks and resolve the inter-state borders and many more.

It was probably after finding and seeing this that the 5 Congress MLAs even though they had not received the approval from higher authorities, decided to move ahead and offer their support to work together in the Government.

At the same time Pangngiang expressed that he is extremely happy that these Congress MLAs have decided to come forward and join hands with the Government, the reason being that in the beginning when the Government was in its formation stage, the regional parties were heavily criticised by the Congress MLAs with questions seeking why the regional parties would want to join hands with the MDA Government under the leadership of the NPP which is very closely associated with the BJP, the party which leads the NDA Government in the country.

Responding to the query on whether there would be any problem for the coalition partners during the elections in 2023, Pangniang said that he personally does not find or see any problem at all for the party but the support extended by the 5 Congress MLAs, may instead pose a problem or a danger to the 5 MLAs themselves for it is out in the open that the decision taken by the 5 MLAs to join and support the MDA Government was taken without notifying the party leaders in the State or the MDC, and while it is uncertain as yet, the 5 MLAs may probably not even be allowed to ever return to their own party.
