Congress Files FIR Against YouTuber Over Alleged Derogatory Remarks Against Vincent Pala

HEADLINES

The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Thursday lodged an FIR at Sadar Police Station against a YouTube channel and its owner over alleged derogatory remarks directed at Congress leader and Shillong Parliamentary by-election candidate Vincent H. Pala.

The complaint follows the circulation of a video on the YouTube channel “Ka Jingshisha The Truth”, allegedly operated by Ronnie Rani, in which objectionable and derogatory language was reportedly used against Pala and the Congress party.

In addition to filing the FIR, Congress leaders also submitted a written complaint to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, seeking immediate action in the matter.

Speaking to reporters, Marybel S. Nongkhlaw, Joplyn Shylla and Kynpham V. Kharlyngdoh alleged that the YouTube channel had used highly offensive language against Vincent Pala, including referring to him using derogatory terms, while also making remarks against the Congress party.

The Congress leaders stated that the comments were unacceptable and amounted to an attempt to tarnish the image and reputation of both the party and its candidate.

They maintained that while political criticism is part of democracy, personal attacks and defamatory remarks should not be tolerated and urged law enforcement authorities to take appropriate legal action.

The party further alleged that the remarks were intended to undermine the dignity of its Lok Sabha candidate during the ongoing election campaign.
