CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS OF MEGHALAYA DISSATISFIED WITH CONSULTATION MEETING CALLED BY THE CM ON BORDER RESOLUTION

HEADLINES

Shillong, February 23: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya called for another consultation meeting with all stakeholders including civil society organisations to discuss and clarify on the task that the MDA Government has undertaken following the 50 years of Statehood in resolving the border issue with Assam.

Speaking with media persons after the meeting concluded, prominent leaders of civil society organisations in the state such as Lambokstar Marngar of the KSU, Dundee Cliff Khongsit of the FKGJP, Robertjune Kharjahrin of the HYC and Sadon K.Blah of the HNYF wore looks of concern with heavy thoughts burdening them due to their anxiety for in this meeting, most matters and topics they raised remained unaddressed as the government could not take any decision or promise anything on the same.

However, in this second meeting, most after leaving the meeting expressed their dissatisfaction as on many points and issues discussed, the state government, currently, cannot yet present hard copies of the report on the border resolution.

Furthermore, there was more distress on other issues as well such as on the give and take policy which as civil society organisations, they do not agree in following through with this without looking back and digging for the backgrounds and deeds of the land or areas from the ancestors and so on and so forth.
