SHILLONG, February 21: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council will go ahead with its Budget Session even though the dates clash with the Budget Session of the State. The Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will start from the 4th to the 17th March, while the session of the KHADC will start from the 8th of March.
The Chairman of the KHADC, Lamphrang Blah has assured that the Budget Session 2022-23 will go ahead from the 8th of March and the Session has been called as per the stipulations of the Sixth Schedule which states that a session ought to held once in 4 months.
The KHADC has upto 4 MLAs including the Deputy Chief Executive Member who holds the charge of the Finance Department of the KHADC and who is also the MLA of Mawshynrut,Gigur Myrthong.
On being asked if this will affect the Session of the KHADC, Blah said that the presence of MLAs who are also MDCs and are required to go to both the Sessions will not affect the process at all for in the past too there had been a clash of dates and the MLAs can come by taking into account the objective of the matters presented in the Session.
