BJP Meghalaya turns to HRC on party workers’ being harassed by the police

Shillong: BJP Meghalaya turned it’s focus to the Human Rights Commission to take steps in penalising the people of the Government harassing the innocent people in the Rimpu Bagan incident.

As much as can be understood, the incident has now taken a different turn in which many innocent people have come forward alleging the extent to which they were harassed or charged and booked under different cases.

On this basis the President of the BJP in Meghalaya, Ernest Mawrie said that there had also been a few innocent people who have approached the HRC and filed their complaints over the allegation and the extent that the police have used their authority on them by forcefully making them sign documents.

Responding to the demand to temporarily remove the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, Ernest Mawrie said that the signs have clearly pointed that the Vice President of the party, Bernard Marak has been a victim of political vendatta, with up to 24 people arrested on the 23rd of July.
