The Office of the National Rural Livelihood Mission(NRLM), Block Mission Management Unit(BMMU), Nongstoiñ Block in collaboration with the District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills District today commemorated World Environment Day.
On this day, right from early in the morning the women folk who are members of 20 Self Help Groups from 2 V.O which include the Mawbynna Khlam Village Organisation and Rumpei Pyrkhat Thymmai Village Organisation from Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng village came out in unison to clean the village and pick up plastic wastes which was followed by a brief gathering at Don Bosco Podium, Mawkhlam.
After the gathering, the team in part to preserve the greenery of nature also planted different tree saplings in the village.
On this day, Eric Kevin Dkhar, MCS,EAC was the Chief Guest and he was accompanied by Valentin Sohlangpiaw, Myntri of Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng village, Edward Marngar, Additional, SdSeO, Nongstoiñ, Commingstar Diengngan,Cluster Coordinator, Nongstoiñ cluster and other elder members of the village.
