The MDC of Mawhati constituency, Charles Marngar yesterday the 12th of April,2022 submitted two petitions at the table of the Additional District Commissioner,M.Tongper, one from the group of Headmen of the Border Area Block-2 and the other from his end as the MDC which are both on the arrest of three Khasi youths by the Assam Police on the 10th of April, 2022 from Sabuda Block 2 in Ri-Bhoi District.
The petition filed by the MDC with the Addl.D.C is to request the District Administration to bring back the 3 Khasi youths from Baithalangso Police Station and to be taken into custody by the Meghalaya Police because they are people from Meghalaya and the Meghalaya Police should also take over the investigation on the three youths.
As per the statement of Marngar, he said that these 3 youths have been wrongfully accused of being involved in burning the Umler bridge which is located at a place before reaching the ground of Umwang ground but at the inspection conducted on the 11th of April, the bridge had no sign or indication of having been torched which clearly points towards the three youths being wrongfully charged of something with no clear basis.
