AFTER JUNE, WE WILL MARCH TOWARDS SECRETARIAT IF THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT LISTEN TO THE MID-DAY MEAL COOKS

HEADLINES

The group of mid-day meal cooks of different schools in West Khasi Hills District today held a meeting at the Free Morning School in Nongstoiñ.

The meeting was held in part to discuss matters relating to the problems which the cooks come across every time, and a decision was also taken to continue with their task as cooks because the Government has promised to revise their pay from the Rs.1000 per month which they had been receiving till now.

As a reminder, the group in the month of March,2022 had ceased work at their schools which is a part of their agitation towards their pay being revised.

Speaking with t7, they said that after June 2022 if the Government does not take the necessary action, the group will continue with their agitations in a different manner.

At the meeting were also present the women cooks from Mawchynrut, Mawthadraishan Rambrai and other villages and also Kenneth Shadap, the Advisor of the group.

The meeting was organised by the Cook-cum-Helper group of Nongstoiñ but support was also extended by the Central body of the All Meghalaya Mid-day Meals Workers in which Bilin Kurbah, President and other members from the Central body were also present.
