Apollo Children’s Hospital collaborates with DHS for treatment of children with heart disease

Shillong: The Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery of Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai & Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati has collaborated with the Director Health Services of the State Government to extend their charitable hand in providing free treatment for children from economically weaker sections of society suffered from heart diseases.

As per statistics,8 out of the 1000 newborns are born with congenital heart diseases with the number of infants with heart diseases in a year has come to 2.5 lakhs and unfortunately about half of these infants end up dying.

This charitable programme has been processed forward with the help of the Save a Child’s Heart Initiative of Apollo Hospital in collaborating with Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME) and now this programme has been initiated in Meghalaya as well.

The facilities extended by this programme include Free Cardiac Screening Camp for children under 16 years of age and their treatment will be carried out in Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati and for children with severe heart diseases, free treatment will be provided in Apollo Children’s Hospitals, Chennai.
