HEADLINES

Shillong: Three vehicles were burnt in Umkor, Pynursla, on Sunday morning after a violent altercation between the driver of a Swift car and a group of men turned ugly. The Swift (ML05 AE 2904), which reportedly had visible blood stains inside following the scuffle, was allegedly set on fire, with the flames later spreading to a Scorpio and a Redi-GO parked nearby.

According to reports, the incident began after a dispute between the Swift driver and two men suspected to be intoxicated. During the confrontation, the duo allegedly assaulted the driver, who retaliated and reportedly bit one of them on the hand, causing heavy bleeding and staining the vehicle interior.

The two men are said to have fled briefly before returning with a larger group, allegedly intent on further assault. Fearing for his life, the Swift driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped into a nearby forest area around Urksew Wahpathaw. The car was later torched, with the fire engulfing the two adjoining vehicles.

The owner of the Swift, along with family members, has lodged an FIR at Pynursla Police Station, identifying some of the accused. The owners of the two damaged vehicles have also filed complaints. Police have launched an investigation and a search is underway to trace those involved.
