Shillong — In a late-evening operation on December 4, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) conducted a swift and forceful raid at Lum Survey after earlier apprehending a suspected drug peddler. Acting on inputs, ANTF personnel stormed the man’s residence, leading to a major seizure of heroin.
During the raid, police recovered 25.45 grams of heroin, valued at well over ₹1 lakh, hidden inside a makeshift cloth-wrapped compartment within the kitchen area. The narcotics were seized as evidence after being discovered cleverly concealed to avoid detection.
Police also confirmed that personnel from the Cantonment Beat House and several local residents acted as witnesses during the raid, as required under legal procedure for narcotics searches.
Moments before ANTF teams reached the spot, several individuals were seen fleeing into adjacent drains and pathways, apparently alerted by the imminent arrival of the police.
The ANTF has intensified operations across Shillong as part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks.
