“An MLA’s Duty is to Bring Development, Regardless of Votes,” Says RS Mawpat on Poor Road Conditions

The deteriorating road from Shyiap to Mawpat, extending to Itshyrwat, has caused significant inconvenience to the public. In response to public complaints, Mawpat Rangbah Shnong Juda Wahlang stated that the PWD has allocated funds to fully reconstruct the road, as mere repairs are no longer sufficient.

Addressing concerns that the road’s poor condition is due to lack of effort by the MLA, Wahlang emphasized that the role of an MLA is to facilitate development, regardless of the number of votes received during elections. He denied accusations that the MLA lacks commitment, highlighting the good understanding between the MLA and the community.
He further added that the PWD has assigned a contractor to rebuild the road, which is crucial for connecting New Shillong and Old Shillong, and urged the public to be patient as the project, estimated to cost around ₹5 crore, progresses.
