SHILLONG, April 11: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong said that the Government has given the police the charge to find out the truth on one insurgency group coming to the forefront in the past few days.
He said that the Government has instructed the police to conduct an investigation on whether the threats of this group sent through media agencies is true or not, and said that the police are currently doing their duty.
It may be reminded that one group calling itself ‘Lawei ba Phyrnai’ had sent an email to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on the 1st and on the 7th of this April, and in these emails sent also to media agencies, this group has claimed to consist of 37 members and has also threatened to start with bomb blasts in the city from the 1st of May.
On being asked about whether the emergence of this new group will create hurdles in the peace talk between the Government and the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), the Deputy Chief Minister said that he does not think that this group will create any hurdles in the peace talk with the HNLC, for as it is, the Government and the HNLC also want the peace talk to begin soon.
