The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has sought urgent intervention from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari over repeated fatal accidents and unsafe conditions along the Shillong–Pynursla–Dawki road.
In a letter dated April 25, MDC Shemborlang Rynjah highlighted rising accidents linked to landslides, falling boulders and unsafe road conditions, while calling for a comprehensive road safety audit, installation of crash barriers, improved signage and faster completion of the road project. The letter also urged accountability of contractors and stronger emergency response mechanisms. The requests are listed across pages 2 and 3 of the document.
The VPP said prolonged delays and hazardous conditions are affecting commuters, tourism and emergency services, and warned that continued inaction could put more lives at risk.
