SHILLONG, January 13: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong has informed that 3 days time has been given to the two State Governments to submit their detailed reports before a final decision is taken on the inter-state border resolution between the two states of Meghalaya and Assam. The meeting between the two Chief Ministers, Conrad K.Sangma and Himanta Biswa Sarma held yesterday had agreed to have one more meeting after which they will fly to Delhi and inform the Union Home Minister on the decision and reports they had received for the resolution in 6 areas out of the 12 areas of the inter-state border.

Speaking with media persons, Tynsong said that the time period of 3 days is counted from today and Meghalaya from its end has expressed that it wants to arrive at a resolution for the 6 areas prior to the 50 Years of Statehood celebration.

On being asked about another postponement to arrive at a decision on the inter-state border resolution, Tynsong said that up till now, 4-5 meetings between the two states had been held to resolve the inter-state border issue, but it is not easy to arrive at a resolution in just 4-5 meetings because this is a problem which has been long pending and requires several and many discussions and deliberations.

On being asked further about the dissatisfaction of the local residents of the inter-state border area that may crop up later, the Deputy Chief Minister said that it is not necessary to state beforehand on what is to be done if there arises a dissatisfaction, and if such views do emerge in the future then it shall be addressed then, while adding that as it is at present the Government is hopeful that the inter-state border resolution will move ahead without any problems.

Tynsong said that after the Chief Ministers have met with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, the two Governments will make a public announcement about the decision through the media agencies.
