A rapid fire completely ravaged 10 shops and one Maruti Van resulting in a big loss for the residents of Pyndengumiong, Mairang. The incident occured at about 6:30 P.M today evening and upon being notified, the Fire Service deployed fire brigades immediately to the spot to extinguish the fire.B.Syiemiong, Sordar of Pyndengumiong, Mairang stated that the timely arrival of the fire brigades helped immensely in containing the fire from spreading to people’s residences.
The shops which were completely destroyed in the fire include an automobile workshop, a computer cum photocopying store,a meat shop, a grocery store and others as well as a Maruti Van. The financial losses as a result of the fire is estimated to be around a few lakhs.
