SHILLONG, February 28: The President of the Youth Wing of the United Democratic Party (UDP) who is also a Minister in the State Government, Kyrmen Shylla said that as youths they eagerly await for the sooner implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), and added that he wants the demand for ILP to become a reality as it is a deep yearning of the public.
He said that as youths in the party they will talk on this matter and what is required for the youths of the UDP to do in consultation with the senior leaders of the party. However, he said that currently they do not want to say anything much as the Government had already passed a resolution in the Legislative Assembly, and the Government is still pursuing the matter.
Shylla said that even though the State already has laws to protect land rights but it still needs the ILP to safeguard the State.
