Shillong: The MLA of East Shillong, Dr.M.Ampareen Lyngdoh has said that the violation of Covid-19 protocols by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K.Sangma, will further confuse and also bring about a lack of belief in the public with regards to the imposition or implementation of the precautionary measures against the spread of this virus.
The statement of Dr.M Ampareen Lyngdoh was made in response to a query put up at a meeting with media persons today.
In the meeting, Dr.M.Ampareen Lyngdoh has expressed her surprise when on the 21st of this month the Chief Minister through a tweet had publicly announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and yet yesterday when the state collaboratively celebrated Republic Day, the Chief Minister went to Polo to take the salute.
On seeing this, Dr.M.Ampareen firstly feels that the Chief Minister must clarify this action because it is perhaps these actions which can make the people take advantage or take the situation lightly.
Lyngdoh, added also that the state, especially Shillong has seen a surge in the positive but many people have also been avoiding getting themselves tested, actions such as these if there be more in the future will only further confuse the minds of the public.
