Nongstoiñ, Oct 21 — In a remarkable show of community solidarity, the entire village of Mawkhlam Nongpyndeng in West Khasi Hills has joined hands to search for a missing villager, Phyrnaibianglin Nongrem (43), who has been missing for the past eight days.
According to reports, Nongrem, the son of Kong Bilisda and Bah Stolin Dkhar, was last seen on the evening of October 13, 2025, and has not returned home since. With no updates or leads about his whereabouts, the village Dorbar called an emergency meeting and decided to conduct a mass search operation starting at 8 AM today.
Hundreds of villagers, including men and women, fanned out across nearby forests, rivers, and surrounding areas in a coordinated effort to locate him. The search began from Wahriat River and extended through the thick forests around the locality, covering every possible route he might have taken.
The village elders said the operation would continue until Nongrem is found, alive or otherwise, with the community vowing to leave no stone unturned.
