Days after the Grotto Chapel in Laitumkhrah was targeted, thieves struck the Unitarian Church in Madan Laban early Thursday morning, stealing four large brass flower pots and two chalices from the old and new church buildings on the same campus. The library was also ransacked.
The theft occurred around 3:30-4:00 am, according to church officials. Chairman of the Unitarian Church, LMB Rani, lamented the targeting of places of worship, attributing such crimes partly to poor street lighting.
Madan Laban Rangbah Shnong, Ioster Sun, condemned the incident as an alarming trend and called for greater vigilance among citizens. He urged the State government and police to enhance late-night and early-morning patrolling to deter such crimes.
