To promote farmers in the State, Banteidor seeks assistance from the Central Government

Shillong, August 25: The Minister incharge of agriculture in Meghalaya, Banteidor Lyngdoh has sought for assistance from the Indian Government to grant schemes which will support the farmers of the State, in his meeting with the Union Minister of Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar on the 25th of August in New Delhi.

In this meeting Banteidor Lyngdoh expressed that the farmers of the State need fertilizers for their crops as per the Office Order of the Department of Agriculture,Government of Meghalaya issued on the 9th of August,2022.

In his official visit to Delhi,Banteidor Lyngdoh on the 23rd of August also met with the Union Minister of State of Chemical and Fertilizers, Bhagwant Khuba in which he spoke about releasing the allocation of fertilizers for the farmers of Meghalaya.

The official visit of the Minister to Delhi to expressed upon the higher authorities of the Indian Government was made one day after he promised before the farmers and the traditional heads at the clarification and intimation meeting of the ban on the use of fertilizers being lifted in Meghalaya which was held in Mawkatheiñ.

The State Minister informed that he spoke and appealed to the Union Minister to grant the supporting schemes to the farmers of the State, and also informed that he had expressed and strongly pressed in his talks on agriculture and fertilizers in the State because the farmers cannot produce enough crops to provide a sustainable livelihood for themselves.
