SHILLONG, March 22: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) today constituted the Central Election Committee in order to prepare for the upcoming Assembly Election with 7 members under Witting Mawsor as Chairman.
The President of the HSPDP, K.P Pangngiang said that the aim of the CEC is to look for candidates who will contest the Assembly Election from the party through the collaborative effort of the leaders in the different districts and units so that they get suitable candidates for 2023.
The Organising Secretary of the HSPDP, Samlin Malngiang said that in the past years the party had worked along with the United Democratic Party (UDP) under the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), however at this juncture the HSPDP has not taken any decision yet on whether to end or confirm the RDA, till the time a meeting of the two parties takes place, while also adding that the party has the confidence to strengthen the relationship with all the regional parties.
Martle Mukhim who is one of the leaders said that the HSPDP wants the regional parties or local parties to be strong enough to run the Government and the governance in the State. He said that the relationship in the RDA is strong and is continuing till date, but as it happens after 5 years, there will be another election and the HSPDP wants at this point to strengthen the relationship amongst the regional parties and the party will seek for the means and ways for that.
Mukhim said that this time they will take the opportunity and talks about how the regional parties can arrive at a mutual understanding with each other for it has been a long time since the regional parties ruled the State. He said that this is a golden opportunity as the national parties are busy fighting with each other.
